August blitzes
We're seeing some great bass blitzes in the mid bay. The size of fish is all over the place but a great time!

7/30 striper fishing
Well the weather service really blew the forecast today. Instead of the 5-10 out of the southwest we got a good 20 out of the south which turned into 2-3 footers. We still found some nice blitzing fish though

6/19 Chesapeake fly fishing
The bass have definitely started to move around a little more and the bigger fish have largely left the bay. Hopefully soon the schoolies will be schooled up and blitzing.
After work fishing
I've had some chances to fish after work which have had great results. The low light conditions are great at that time of day and there can be fewer boat although not as few as I had hoped
Big fish in June
We fished the Kent Narrows fly and light tackle tournament again this year and again it was a great time. A record number of boats turned out this year and I'm guessing that a record number of big fish were caught. We caught a number of fish on fly that would have won in years past that didn't place this year. Joe Behot, our ringer, caught a 34" bass on a 4" sluggo that was about an inch shy of third. It was a great time!

6/2 Chesapeake fishing report
After a very warm Memorial Day weekend the weather has settled out quite a bit. Other than some rain we should see nice fishing weather coming up. Most of the cows have moved out of the bay and the schoolies are beginning to school up but nothing like they will later in the summer. This is a transitional time of year where you can find fish shallow in low light conditions and in more normal summer locations during the day.

Friday Fishing Forecast 5/13
Hey swabs!
As of today we've had 17 straight days with rain. I think it's a record and a pain regardless. The good news is that there are bass in the mid-bay and they've finally started eating top water flies and baits. Fish moving water around points in the rivers with sinking lines but occasionally throw a banger or gurgler on a floater especially if you hear or see fish breaking water or chasing bait. Incoming could be really good because it'll bring cleaner, saltier water than the dirty fresh water we're seeing on the outgoing. I've also heard of a good bite in 25-35' of water on fish leaving the spawning rivers. Catch em up!

End of April captains log
Hey swabs!
April was a fun month of fishing but a little slow by what I'm used to in fishing the Chesapeake. We got a lot of cold fronts and high pressure systems that came through right before weekends which I think really hurt the shallow water bite. We still caught fish but not as many as I'd hoped. Trollers seemed to do ok but they were fishing for 6-8 hours for one or two bass. The ones they did catch were big though.
I'm going to start doing a Friday fly fishing report and forecast which should be fun. I'm headed to the keys this weekend and the cape later in the month so there's a lot to look forward to!

Trout fishing
Friday we hit a local stocked stream to fish for trout. I do very little freshwater fishing and even less trout fishing so it was a fun experience. Having this five minutes from the house is great

We went back on Sunday and found one more

Finally!!
We decided to fish for a while after that and I tied into this nice fish:
The fish was about 36" and wicked fat and heavy indicating she had not spawned out yet. All fish were obviously released.
Very excited to see some fish around!!
